Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026

The short version: your documents stay on your device. We never upload them, we have no server that could receive them, and we do not have an account system that could identify you.

1. What we collect

Nothing about your documents. Not their contents, not their filenames, not their page counts, not thumbnails, not text recognised inside them, not metadata of any kind. This is not a policy choice we could quietly reverse in an update — the app has no code that sends document data anywhere.

2. Where your files live

On your device, in locations you choose. On Android we use the system file picker, which needs no storage permission; on iOS we use the Files app. We do not ask for access to your whole storage, and we cannot see files you have not opened in the app.

Documents you scan are stored in the app’s own folder until you move or share them. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

3. The camera

The scanner asks for camera access the first time you open it, and never before. Photographs taken in the scanner are written to your device and used to build a PDF. They are not sent anywhere.

4. Text recognition

OCR runs entirely on your device. The recogniser and its language model are part of the app, so reading text out of a page needs no network and the text it finds never leaves the device.

5. Signatures

A signature you draw is stored on your device, encrypted at rest, and is never transmitted.

6. Advertising

The free version of this app shows ads, and this is the one part of the app that connects to the internet. We use the following Google services, which may process limited data according to Google’s own policies:

These services are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. We do not receive personal data from them.

The ad component never sees your documents. It is isolated from the part of the app that handles files, and is never given a filename, a page, or a thumbnail.

You will be asked for advertising consent the first time an ad is shown, not at launch, and you can decline. On iOS this includes App Tracking Transparency.

7. Purchases

The app has no in-app purchases at this time. If one is added, it will be processed entirely by Google Play or the App Store, and we would never see your payment details.

8. What we do not collect

We do not collect your contacts, messages, calendar, health data, financial information, precise location, or the contents of your photo library. The app requests no permission for any of them.

9. Your choices

10. Children

This app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect any information from them. We collect nothing that could identify anyone.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here, the “Last updated” date above will reflect it, and the change will be described in the app’s release notes.
